How to Set Up a Crypto News Feed on Telegram You'll Actually Read

How to follow crypto news on Telegram without drowning: exchange announcement channels, one fast and one slow source, folders, mutes and spotting paid posts.

The usual way to follow crypto news on Telegram is to join twenty channels, get two hundred notifications a day, mute everything, and miss the one post that mattered. A feed works better when it’s small and has a clear structure: a couple of sources that tell you fast, a couple that tell you properly, and everything else muted in a folder.

This guide shows a setup that takes about fifteen minutes. It’s part of our guide to finding good crypto Telegram channels.

Decide what “news” you need

Different news has different deadlines:

  • Must know quickly: exchange listings and delistings, withdrawal suspensions, maintenance, hacks affecting a platform you use, deadlines for something you hold (a token migration, a claim window).
  • Want to know today: market moves, regulation, project updates.
  • Nice to know: analysis, opinion, research.

Only the first group justifies a notification. Everything else can wait until you open the app.

Layer 1: official announcement channels for platforms you use

The most useful channels are the least exciting: the official announcement channels of exchanges and wallets where you actually hold funds. They post listings, delistings, maintenance windows and changes to deposit or withdrawal support, which is exactly the information that costs you money if you miss it.

Examples in our directory:

Join only the ones for platforms you use. Make sure you’ve got the real one; announcement channels are among the most copied on Telegram. The check takes a minute: how to verify an official exchange Telegram channel.

These are channels, not groups, so there’s no chatter. See Telegram channel vs group for crypto if the difference isn’t clear.

Layer 2: one fast source, one slow source

Fast: a general crypto news channel that posts headlines as they happen. You want speed and breadth, and you accept that some headlines will be thin or wrong at first.

Slow: a source that explains. Research notes, on-chain analysis, a channel that posts fewer, longer pieces. CryptoQuant and Glassnode post data-driven notes; CoinMarketCap’s channel covers market and project news.

One of each is enough. Two fast sources mostly repeat each other. Our best crypto news Telegram channels list and the wider news category are good places to choose from.

Layer 3 (optional): automated feeds

Some channels are bots in all but name: they post every large transfer, every new calendar event, every price move above a threshold. Examples are Whale Alert for large transfers and the CoinMarketCal bot feed for upcoming events. More options are in our list of on-chain alert channels.

They’re useful as a reference, but they’re noisy and come without context. Put them in the muted folder and check them when you want to. Before you act on a whale alert, read whale alerts and on-chain alert channels explained.

Organise it in Telegram

Telegram has the tools built in. Menu names vary a little between apps.

Create a folder

  1. Go to Settings → Chat Folders (on some apps, Folders).
  2. Create a new folder, for example “Crypto news”.
  3. Add the channels you chose. You can also include all channels and exclude the ones you don’t want.

Make a second folder, “Crypto alerts”, for automated feeds if you use them. Folders appear as tabs at the top of your chat list, so your news is one tap away and separate from personal chats.

Set notifications deliberately

  • Notify: only the announcement channels for platforms where you hold funds. That’s typically one to three channels.
  • Mute: everything else. Open the channel, tap its name, and choose Mute (forever, or for a period). Muted channels still collect posts; they just don’t buzz.
  • Archive: channels you only want to check occasionally. Archived chats move out of your main list. Muted archived chats stay there when new posts arrive.

You can also adjust notifications globally in Settings → Notifications and Sounds, including a separate setting for channels.

Use the post views and pinned messages

Announcement channels often pin important ongoing notices (an active maintenance, a migration). When you open the channel, check the pinned bar at the top first.

Tell news from promotion

A lot of what looks like news in crypto Telegram is paid. Projects pay channels to post about their token, and not every channel marks these posts.

Signs a “news” post might be an ad:

  • It’s about a small token you’ve never heard of, and it’s entirely positive.
  • It has a call to action: “buy now”, “join presale”, “limited spots”.
  • It includes a referral or affiliate link.
  • It’s formatted differently from the channel’s usual posts.
  • The same text appears in several channels at the same time.

Honest channels label sponsored posts (“Ad”, “Sponsored”, “Partner”). Prefer those. Telegram itself also shows sponsored messages in large public channels, marked as sponsored; that’s Telegram’s ad platform, not the channel’s own content.

Don’t let news become a trade

The fastest news is often wrong at first, and by the time a headline reaches a big Telegram channel, the price may already have moved. Use the fast source to know something is happening and the slow source to understand it. For anything where you’d act on a token mentioned in news, verify the contract address first: how to verify a token contract address.

Example setup

RoleWhat to pickNotifications
Platform announcementsOfficial channels of the 1–3 exchanges/wallets you useOn
Fast newsOne general news channelOff
Slow analysisOne research or on-chain channelOff
Automated feeds (optional)Whale Alert, calendar feedOff, separate folder

Five or six channels, one or two that can make your phone buzz. Most people who set it up like this find they read more news than before, because they stop ignoring the whole folder.

Price alert bots can fill a gap here too, pinging you only when something you hold moves. Read crypto Telegram bots and what never to give them before adding one.
